Overview

Quiet, automatic backup for the home.

Load-shedding and unplanned outages disrupt security systems, borehole pumps, refrigeration and home offices. A correctly sized standby generator keeps the essentials running through it.

Powermec assesses your essential and full-home loads, recommends a unit with headroom for motor starting, and installs it on a proper plinth with automatic changeover, so the house switches to backup power on its own and back to the grid when supply returns.

  • Estates
  • Lodges

Key benefits

What the right generator delivers.

Uninterrupted security

Electric fences, gate motors, alarms and CCTV stay live through every outage.

Water and refrigeration

Borehole pumps, pressure systems, fridges and freezers keep running, protecting stock and supply.

Work from home

Routers, computers and lighting remain on so meetings and deadlines are not lost.

Low noise

Sound-attenuated canopies keep running noise appropriate for residential neighbourhoods.

System options

Typical configurations.

When the grid drops, a residential generator keeps lights, security, refrigeration, water pumps and home offices running. We size each unit around the loads that matter in your household, and fit it with automatic changeover so backup power starts without anyone lifting a finger.

Choosing a generator

Key considerations.

Essential loads

List what must stay on — geysers, pumps, borehole, security and refrigeration drive the kVA rating.

Noise and placement

Canopied, sound-attenuated units suit residential neighbourhoods and compact yards.

Automatic changeover

An automatic transfer switch moves the house to generator power and back to the grid when supply returns.

Fuel and runtime

Tank capacity and fuel consumption set how long the home stays powered between refills.

FAQ

Common questions.

What size generator does my home need?

Most homes need between 12 and 30 kVA, depending on whether you back up essential circuits or the whole house. We confirm this with a load assessment on site.

Will the generator start automatically?

Yes. With an automatic transfer switch the generator starts automatically after a power failure and returns the house to grid supply when it is restored.

How often does it need servicing?

Typically every 250 running hours or annually, whichever comes first. Heavy load-shedding periods may call for more frequent checks.
